After two more high profile deaths of Black men at the hands of police officers, and the murder of five policemen in Dallas, it may seem like God has just thrown up His hands and walked away from us.  He hasn’t.  He’s been telling us about this moment for a long, long time.

PICKING FIGHTS WITH GIANTS

Jesus lived on Earth as a man of peace who turned the other cheek, but He also walked great distances to boldly confront the most powerful people and institutions of the time.  In other words, Jesus picked fights, but only certain fights.  This is our example. Strange as it sounds, Christians SHOULD pick fights --- but only CERTAIN fights.

THAT'S MY WORD

THAT word.  Every family and cultural group has its own.  The question from people outside of the group is, “Why can you say that word but I can’t?”  The response is usually something like, “It’s our word, not yours,” and then the debate rages.

So, let me tell you about the time that God used a word that people other than God thought God shouldn’t use.  This message is about what we do when God says: THAT’S MY WORD.
