DAT! WHAT IS DAT?

What: Red Cross DAT (Disaster Action Team) organizing & training.  DAT volunteers  are trained and equipped to provide emergency food, clothing and shelter to families displaced by a disaster.

When: Monday, July 30, 2012, 6 P.M. – 9 P.M.

Where: Hall Memorial CME Church is at 541 Seibles Road, Montgomery, 334.288.0577

With a dozen families displaced by a recent apartment fire, it is particularly significant that The Montgomery Area Red Cross and Hall Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church are organizing Disaster Action Teams for Montgomery. A Disaster Action Team (DAT) is composed of volunteers who have taken the required training. They respond to local emergency and disaster incidents.

The teams provide emergency food, clothing and shelter to families displaced by a disaster. The team can provide canteen services (food, water and snacks), blankets, comfort kits and other small items to survivors of smaller scale disasters if they do not have their own means.

Training for the Montgomery Area Disaster Action Teams will be at Hall Memorial CME Church on Monday, July 30th from 6-9 P.M.   Dress comfortably.
