WHEN TO HOLD ON; WHEN TO LET GO

It’s true of romance.  And it’s true in this spiritual journey called the Christian life: You have to know when to hold on, and you have to know when to let go.
The Bible speaks to this issue of holding on or letting go.  Jesus taught that holding on and letting go are expressions of spiritual authority.  Jesus called it BINDING & LOOSING.

The sermon is called WHEN TO HOLD ON & WHEN TO LET GO.

Listen well.

HOW TO WIN WHEN VICTORY DEFEATS YOU

In the latest Batman movie, the bad guy defeats the hero.  As he punches the hero into unconsciousness, the villain explains why he is able to prevail.    He says, “Victory has defeated you.”

In the Bible, the disciples of Jesus encountered a demonic enemy whom they could not beat, and they didn’t understand why.  The reason as Jesus gave His disciples is humbling for us  because it is the same reason why we don’t overcome certain chronic problems in our communities and in our churches.  The reason we fail in these areas is that “Victory has defeated us.”

The Bible gives the solution, and so this message is called  HOW TO WIN WHEN VICTORY DEFEATS YOU.

Listen well.

(P.S.  At a certain point in this sermon I use the term obstetrician when I meant to say optometrist.   Sorry, but I don't want to leave any misunderstandings. )
