STOP JUST PUTTING ON (sermon audio)

In the South, when someone's overly dramatic we say, "They're just puttin' on." In the Bible, the Apostle Paul encourages Christians to "put on", but in a very different way.  These two meanings of the phrase come together in a powerful message about why it's so hard to change and how to make the change stick.

The sermon was delivered for Friends and Family Day at Star of Bethlehem CME Church in Havana, Alabama.  The title is STOP JUST PUTTING ON.

Listen well.

PLANTING FOR A GREATER HARVEST (sermon audio)

What is the TRUTH about financial “sowing”?   What is the right way---- the spiritually right way--- for a church to do fundraising?  How do the promises of blessing as financial “reaping” actually work?  These are the questions the Apostle Paul and the New Testament church in Corinth faced and answered so the you and I and the church today could see beyond the memes and slogans and understand the truth.

The answers are  shared in a message was delivered for Harvest Day at the historic St. Paul United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama; but it is relevant to us all.    The title of the sermon is Planting for a Greater Harvest.

Listen well.

YOU’VE BEEN DOWN LONG ENOUGH; TIME TO GET UP

What do you do when you haven’t been able to do anything good for yourself for so long that you’ve stopped expecting anything good to ever happen for you?  Jesus answered this question for a man whose troubles had lasted for 38 years.

The title of the message is YOU’VE BEEN DOWN LONG ENOUGH; TIME TO GET UP.
