GOD & THE TOOTH FAIRY

Some people hate religion.  They are vehemently opposed to the very existence of Christianity and other faiths in God or a “god.”   These people maintain that the world and life are the product of chance and evolution.  They reject the idea of a Creator or a Divine plan.

But then.

Then those same people say, as proof of their position, “If there is a God, where was He when…”
… when my child died.
… when my father abandoned us.
… when Hitler murdered millions of Jews.
… when the Twin Towers were attacked.
… when etc., etc.

The atheists reason that if they can show God lacking accountability for tragedy then they can disprove God.

Well, here’s what baffles me: Why don’t they ask, “Where was chance and evolution when…”
Why aren’t they angry at evolution for randomly selecting a child as unfit for survival?
Why aren’t they mad at natural selection for marking entire ethnic groups for genetic extinction?
Where’s the indignation that the steady progress of evolutionary “advancement” created Hitler, who as a later member of the species should have been a better specimen than say Socrates or DaVinci or Isaac Newton?
Why aren’t they mad that “Science” or “Nature” didn’t intervene to facilitate the punctuated evolution of the people in the Twin Towers so that they could survive such a catastrophe?
Why are atheists who say they find religion illogical, so irrationally mad about what they think God did or didn’t do?

When I or my wife get a toothache I don’t demand answers from the tooth fairy because I don’t believe that the tooth fairy exists.

It’s not simply that I don’t want the tooth fairy to exist.  It’s not that I think the tooth fairy is being mean or unfair so I’m going to say she doesn’t exist because I’m mad at her.  It’s that I really don’t think there’s a tooth fairy.

I don’t question the fairness or fairy-ness of the tooth fairy because that would be me delusionally arguing with a non-entity.  So why, why do atheists use God’s behavior in their arguments?

Either there’s something in even the most ardent atheist that makes it impossible not to subconsciously acknowledge God.
Or atheists are delusional.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. (Ecclesiastes 3: 11)

The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.” (Psalm 14: 1)

HOW CAN YOU BE AN ATHEIST AND BELIEVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE?

I'm perplexed that so many scientific proponents of climate change are avowed atheists.  The basic concept of climate change is that human beings have polluted and mishandled natural resources to the point that we've thrown the planet's systems out of whack.

Well, if human beings along with our technological developments are simply random products of mindless evolution, then our polluting behavior is just as valid an expression of our evolutionary capabilities as ballet or building shelters to protect your family from the weather.

And, if the planet and it's intricate climatic systems are simply the random result of chance accumulation of particles at this particular distance from the sun then there's no whack to be thrown off.  Our climate isno more special than the methane rainstorms on one of Saturn's moons.  It's all is just random.

However, if there is in fact a way that the climate is SUPPOSED to behave then there is a standard.  There is a right way.  And this little blue ball of rock is where it is and operating the way it does for a reason.  For Somebody's reason.

Psalm 148: 4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
 And you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
 For He commanded and they were created.
6 He also established them forever and ever;
 He made a decree which shall not pass away.
...8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
 Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;

And if human beings have a universal obligation to preserve or to restore the climatic standard, then we have purpose, purpose that supersedes any "evolutionary" tendencies or capabilities.  We have  purpose that is more important than our natural lives.

Climate change theory actually proves that earth and humanity have SUPER-NATURAL purpose.
Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,

 And you waters above the heavens!

BETTER WITH TIME?

From our seat in the modern world, we look back at the past and think about those poor people who weren't as "advanced" as we are.

But, who’s really smarter:

The guy in the SUV using GPS to find a McDonald’s, or the scientist in the 60’s who put men on the moon twice using a computer that was the size of a room but slower than a kid’s Iphone, or the Vikings who without maps or a written language managed to row across the Atlantic ocean and back.

The homeowner who running into Lowe’s for a paint color that’ll last a year longer than the last one or the cave man who’s handprint made in a mixture of berry juices is still there after tens of thousands of years.

The armies of designers and contractors who spend billions of dollars constructing skyscrapers with steel and concrete or the ancient Egyptians who without bulldozers, welding torches, or mortar to hold the blocks together built pyramids that are still standing today in one of the harshest climates on earth.

Who’s really more clever, the modern chef who comes up with a new chocolate sauce for his duck confit or the prehistoric man walking through a field who looks at the seeds on top of a stand of weeds and says, “Ugg!  Me think that if me pick these, grind them under stone, add liquid, and apply heat evenly around mixture, then me make new food.  Me call it 'bread.' ”

Who’s really more “advanced,” our contemporary philosophers and pundits who with all their theories of evolution and alien intervention can’t accurately predict next year’s interest rates or this afternoon’s weather, or the ancient Mayans who’ve got them freaking out cause one of them ran out of space while writing on a rock.

We come to a place in which we have animals (pets) that die if they eat regular food that isn’t processed and people that die from eating food processed especially for human consumption.

Evolution maintains that human beings are getting better and smarter.

Ya’ sure about that?
