WISE MEN GO ANOTHER WAY

What should a church or a Christian do when their best, most logical, and wisest choice turns out to be wrong?  How does a believer choose among all the options and advice that seem good and godly and wise --- at the time? The answers can be found a Christmas story about wise men trying to find their way.  Originally delivered at Evergreen Baptist Church in Birmingham, the title of this message is  WISE MEN GO ANOTHER WAY.

WISDOM, JUSTICE, & THE SLAUGHTER OF INNOCENTS

The birth of Jesus is more than a pretty story for Christmas  time.  It is a prophetic guide to the missing element in our response to unfair pain and social injustice.

Learn a new look at the Advent stories of the Wise Men, Joseph, and Herod in a message called: WISDOM, JUSTICE, & THE SLAUGHTER OF INNOCENTS.

Listen well.

CAN HE STILL GET A WITNESS?

Some things are too important to just take one person’s word for it.  Those most important situations have to be verified, preferably by the testimony of multiple witnesses.

Jesus claimed that He was the actual Son of God.  In fact Jesus claimed to be God Himself.  That idea, the doctrine of Christ’s divinity,  is the basis of our faith and the primary theme of the Biblical story of the Nativity.  The birth of Jesus as God with us is so important that God arranged for multiple witnesses to verify the facts.

This final message before Christmas walks through the testimony of those witnesses and poses a crucial question for believers in this Advent season:

The sermon is titled:  CAN GOD STILL GET A WITNESS?

Listen well.

DEEPER THAN CRAZY: What the story of Jesus’ birth can teach about the Connecticut school shooting

The Sandy Oaks Elementary School murders happened geographically far away from Montgomery, Alabama, but aspects of this assault still touched close to home.

I was wrestling with the why and how of the Newport, Connecticut tragedy at the same time I was wrestling with a message God was giving me about the birth of Jesus.  In a way that only God can do, the Holy Spirit opened the Word and showed what the Biblical story of Christmas has to say to us about the tragedies that are becoming increasingly common in our society.

It’s not your usual December sermon, but it may be just the Word we need.  The message is called: DEEPER THAN CRAZY.

Listen well.
